چکیده

The CorInnova cardiac compression device (CorInnova, Inc., Houston, TX, USA) is designed to provide direct biventricular support, increase output, and improve ventricular unloading in patients with heart failure. Placed within the pericardium surrounding both ventricles, has two concentric sets of thin-film polyurethane chambers: (1) inner (epicardial) saline-filled chambers that conform intimately epicardial surface, eradicating any gaps interface between heart; (2) outer air-filled cycled during systole negative pressure diastole, consistent physiological contraction relaxation. A superelastic, collapsible Nitinol frame gives structure, enables minimally invasive self-deployment, enhances diastolic filling. Preclinical testing been extremely promising, improvements output other parameters animal failure models. This potentially transformative technology moving rapidly toward first-in-human use. may an effective device-based solution for who currently have few or limited mechanical support options, including failure, those right are older, smaller size. It can be removed easily requires minimal maintenance. An important, unique feature this it provides assistance without blood contact need anticoagulation. particularly important contraindications anticoagulation due allergy, neurological bleeds, preexisting hemorrhage. No circulatory addresses these underserved heart-failure populations.

Direct cardiac compression devices.

Ventricular assist devices employed clinically to assist the failing heart require direct contact between the device and the patient's blood. Thromboembolic events, the need for anticoagulation, hemolysis, immune reactions and infections contribute significantly to morbidity and mortality of these devices. Compressing the weakened heart from its epicardial surface, direct cardiac compression (D...

Implantable left ventricular assist system.

The first clinical application of the first-generation pulsatile implantable left ventricular assist system (LVAS) was in the mid 1980 s as a bridge to transplantation and contributed to an advancement of this field from a clinical experiment to an established therapeutic option for treating advanced heart failure patients. However, there have been technological limitations that have surfaced a...

Soft Pressure Sensing Sleeve for Direct Cardiac Compression Device

A direct cardiac compression (DCC) device is a non-blood contacting sleeve placed around the failing heart to actively assist blood pumping function. For design optimization of a DCC device, it is necessary to monitor the surface pressure exerted on the heart surface at multiple points during active assist, and to correlate this with device performance and cardiac output. In this paper, we pres...

Implantable Cardiac Devices

Electrical cardiac pacing for the management of bradyarrhythmias was first described in 1952, and permanent transvenous pacing devices were introduced into clinical practice in the early 1960s. The first devices for endocardial defibrillation were implanted in surviving victims of sudden cardiac death in 1980. Implanted electrical devices for the management of cardiac dysrhythmias have changed ...
